It is Fall! Time to get out the fall decorations and start doing fun fall activities with your kids. Pumpkin, leaf and spider activities are some of the fun fall stuff we do. Here are several spider activities you can do with your kids.

Fall is my favorite time of the year. I’ve always lived in Southwest Florida. So fall to me means something different than it does for most people. I’ve never seen fall leaves besides in photos and when people send them to me.

Fall means a slight change in cooler weather. It’s cooler morning and evening. It also means less rain. One of my favorite things is seeing more migratory animals.

Since fall usually means cooler nights and it gets dark earlier. My family likes to go spider hunting in our yard. Did you know that if you use a non-led flashlight and shine it in your yard you can spot spider eyes? It’s not the easiest thing but Ranger D has been doing it since he was 3. He’ll go out in the early night and drive around in his little tractor usually fast and then throw on his beaks and say I found one come look. He amazed my husband and me.

What you have to do is direct the light to the ground about 10 feet in front of you. When light strikes a spider’s eyes, it is reflected back and the eyes glow like gleaming, turquoise jewels.

I don’t mind spiders as long as they aren’t on me. I enjoy learning more about spiders and playing with pretend spiders with my kids doing these spider activities. These spider activities help develop my children’s fine motor skills, gross motor skills, speech and vocabulary, math, science, literacy, writing, artistic skills and so much more.
